CB Antenna

My CB antenna came today so I decided to go see "roughly" how high it would be above the bus.

See the orange 76 ball in the trees? That is how high the tip of the antenna is. I just have it sitting on the splash pan and resting on the back up light housing in the pic. As soon as I get a few more needed parts, I will be mounting it to the back corner of the bumper. It will be on a 4" spring so that will probably raise it a bit more. I'm going to try to put it on the passenger side so I don't take out to many drive through lights. LOL Hoping it will end up on the outside of their little awnings.

A Few New Things

I found some original side marker lights at a good price so was finally able to replace my broken one.

I also attached my badge to my jail bars.

Went to Walmart today and found this cool table. It is perfect.

Stores in this nice carrying case.

Here is the small version.

The longer version.

Here is my current CB Antenna set up.

As you can see it isn't to attractive and also not to functional. I have to remember to stand it up when I pull out and then remember to stop and put it down before pulling into the carport.

This is how far the bus goes into the carport. I need to figure out a way to attach an antenna that I can pull in and out with out having to raise and lower it.  I have part of it figured out. I will be getting one of those springs that mount at the bottom so the antenna will bend backward and actually be sticking out of the carport. I just need to figure out where and how to mount it.

Fun Stuff

Today I added some fun stuff to Wes.  I made my own jail bars. I had the mounting pieces but didn't have the bars. So I went to the local aluminum store and bought some bars.

Before the bars.

After,

Eventually I will probably add some nick knacks to them.

I also installed a CB. I know I probably will rarely get to talk to anyone or hear anyone, but I did it for the "period" (70's) look and also to be able to communicate with people that have the walkie talkies when we caravan places. Now just to get them to remember to bring them. LOL At least mine is always with me now. :D

Now I need to find an antenna that I can mount on my back bumper. For right now I used a magnetic one and it is on my front bumper. The cord isn't long enough to go all the way to the back and I can't stick it on top of the bus do to the carport.

New Hubcaps

Not much of an update, but I finally put the hubcaps that my hubby bought me, on the bus today. I've only had them for a month or so. LOL

Before
After

They are not as white as the old ones but they match the bus pretty good. A lot less rust too. :D

Ever since my camping trip, I have been wanting an awning for the bus. I contemplated getting one of the kind that attach to the side of the bus and just pulls out, but I just didn't like the thought of having to put holes in the side of the bus to mount it. I also thought about an EZ Up Awning but I wanted something that would go on the side of the bus. Today I bought an  EZ Awning from Bus Depot today. I got the plus size one. Can't wait to get it and try it out.  Here is a link to the one I bought. EZ Awning Actually I bought the beige one, but this link shows the awning best. Later I can buy the sides for it and make an easy room out of it. Probably would be easier to put up then the actual drive away tent I have. For the most part I wanted just the top part anyway, so I'm in no hurry to buy the sides.

That is the latest on Wes the Westy! :D
